Johannes Pahlitzsch is Professor in Mainz (Germany) in the area of Byzantine Studies. He wrote many articles on the relations between the Christian Orthodox and the Mamluk authorities. He has also produced some editions of Mamluk documents written for or by Christians. He is now preparing an edition and a translation of the Procheiros Nomes, an important source for the medieval Melkite laws.
