offers
one postdoctoral research position (full-time)
The position is available for one year starting from 1st October 2010 (or later) and can be extended following favorable reviews. Salary is in accordance with the French state regulated public service salary scale (basic monthly salary about 2300 € brut, depending on the status of the candidate).
Profile of the candidate:
Strong experience with juridical texts of pre-modern Islamic law (fiqh) and eventually with Arabic manuscripts, paired with an excellent knowledge of classical Arabic and a high proficiency of English.
Prospective candidates should hold a PhD in Arabic or Islamic Studies, be interested in the study and edition of Arabic legal documents and willing to work and to publish in the scientific field as defined by the project "Islamic Law Materialized" (for a summary see below).
Creativity, enthousiasm, initiative and the ability to work efficiently in a team will be appreciated. The working language among the international group of researchers is English, and applicants from abroad are encouraged to apply. No requirements of nationality or age.
